Kathmandu's temple circuit and lakeside Pokhara — by road from Haridwar, with hotel, private transport and sightseeing arranged end to end.
Nepal tour package from Haridwar via Uttar Pradesh to the Sonauli border — covering Kathmandu's temple circuit and lakeside Pokhara, with hotel, private transport and sightseeing arranged end-to-end by our travel desk.
Haridwar sits in Uttarakhand, making this route a natural extension for pilgrims already in the region for a Char Dham Yatra who want to combine both circuits. Drive from Haridwar towards Gorakhpur and on to the Sonauli border, ideal to combine with a Char Dham trip.
Every Nepal holiday package from this route includes hotel stay, private transport once you're in Nepal, sightseeing, and border-crossing or airport assistance. Indian citizens can travel with a valid passport or a government photo ID such as a voter card, though a passport makes hotel check-ins noticeably smoother.
October to April is Nepal's most reliable travel window — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and good visibility for mountain viewpoints like Sarangkot. This is when the majority of our bookings from Haridwar are concentrated.
The monsoon (June to September) brings regular rainfall and reduces visibility at viewpoints, though temples and city sightseeing remain unaffected. We'd suggest booking two to three weeks ahead during the October–April peak season.
Depart Haridwar by private cab, driving through Uttar Pradesh toward the Sonauli border — a longer road day that makes this route a natural extension for pilgrims already in the region for a Char Dham Yatra. After crossing into Nepal and continuing to Kathmandu, check in and rest, with the evening free to explore Thamel, Kathmandu's central tourist district.
A full day covering Kathmandu's essential temple circuit with a local guide: Pashupatinath, one of Hinduism's holiest shrines on the banks of the Bagmati River; Swayambhunath, the hilltop Buddhist stupa often called the Monkey Temple, with panoramic valley views; and Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world and the centre of Kathmandu's Tibetan Buddhist community, particularly atmospheric at dusk when butter lamps are lit.
The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara covers roughly 200 km and takes 6-7 hours, passing through changing hill terrain as the Kathmandu Valley gives way to Pokhara's lakeside setting. On arrival, check in and spend the evening boating on Phewa Lake — a relaxed way to end a long travel day, with reflected mountain views on clear evenings.
An early start takes you to Sarangkot, the viewpoint above Pokhara known for sunrise views over the Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fishtail) peaks — visibility depends on clear weather, so treat it as a highlight rather than a guarantee. The rest of the day is free to explore Pokhara's Lakeside district at your own pace.
After breakfast in Pokhara, begin the return drive toward Kathmandu and on to the Sonauli border, retracing the route back into Uttar Pradesh and on to Haridwar. Given the distance, this is run as a dedicated travel day.
Every hotel and driver on this itinerary has been personally checked by someone on our team — not pulled from a third-party listing we've never verified. If a hotel becomes unavailable or a route needs adjusting before your trip, we call you before it becomes your problem to discover on arrival, rather than leaving you to find out at check-in.
Our travel desk stays reachable by phone for the full length of your trip, not just until you've paid the advance. That matters most when something minor goes sideways — a delayed pickup, a room mix-up — and there's an actual person to call who already knows your itinerary.
If weather affects a specific day's plan, our on-ground contact adjusts the itinerary in real time — swapping the order of activities or substituting an alternative rather than simply cancelling. This itinerary can also be extended with extra days, adjusted for a different hotel category, or combined with an additional destination at the time of enquiry.
