Package Overview

Nepal tour package from Raxaul via the Raxaul–Birgunj border — covering Kathmandu's temple circuit and lakeside Pokhara, with hotel, private transport and sightseeing arranged end-to-end by our travel desk.

About This Journey

Raxaul is a border town in its own right — the Birgunj crossing into Nepal is a short ride from the Raxaul railway station, making this the fastest road entry point on our list. Raxaul sits directly on the Nepal border; cross at Birgunj on foot or by cab and continue straight to Kathmandu.

Every Nepal holiday package from this route includes hotel stay, private transport once you're in Nepal, sightseeing, and border-crossing or airport assistance. Indian citizens can travel with a valid passport or a government photo ID such as a voter card, though a passport makes hotel check-ins noticeably smoother.

Best Time to Visit

October to April is Nepal's most reliable travel window — clear skies, comfortable temperatures, and good visibility for mountain viewpoints like Sarangkot. This is when the majority of our bookings from Raxaul are concentrated.

The monsoon (June to September) brings regular rainfall and reduces visibility at viewpoints, though temples and city sightseeing remain unaffected. We'd suggest booking two to three weeks ahead during the October–April peak season.

Itinerary — Day by Day

Day 1

Raxaul to Kathmandu

Raxaul sits directly on the Nepal border, so today begins with a short transfer to the Birgunj crossing — one of the fastest road entry points into Nepal on this list. After immigration formalities, the drive continues to Kathmandu, arriving by evening for check-in and rest, with no sightseeing scheduled on this first travel day.

Day 2

Kathmandu Temple Circuit

A full day covering Kathmandu's essential temple circuit with a local guide: Pashupatinath, one of Hinduism's holiest shrines on the banks of the Bagmati River; Swayambhunath, the hilltop Buddhist stupa often called the Monkey Temple, with panoramic valley views; and Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world and the centre of Kathmandu's Tibetan Buddhist community, particularly atmospheric at dusk when butter lamps are lit.

Day 3

Drive to Pokhara

The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara covers roughly 200 km and takes 6-7 hours, passing through changing hill terrain as the Kathmandu Valley gives way to Pokhara's lakeside setting. On arrival, check in and spend the evening boating on Phewa Lake — a relaxed way to end a long travel day, with reflected mountain views on clear evenings.

Day 4

Sarangkot Sunrise & Return

An early start takes you to Sarangkot, the viewpoint above Pokhara known for sunrise views over the Annapurna and Machapuchare (Fishtail) peaks — visibility depends on clear weather, so treat it as a highlight rather than a guarantee. The rest of the morning is free by Phewa Lake before beginning the return journey toward the border.

Why Book This With Us

Every hotel and driver on this itinerary has been personally checked by someone on our team — not pulled from a third-party listing we've never verified. If a hotel becomes unavailable or a route needs adjusting before your trip, we call you before it becomes your problem to discover on arrival, rather than leaving you to find out at check-in.

Our travel desk stays reachable by phone for the full length of your trip, not just until you've paid the advance. That matters most when something minor goes sideways — a delayed pickup, a room mix-up — and there's an actual person to call who already knows your itinerary.
